Esotericism
Esotericism
The word esotericism comes from the ancient Greek “esôteros” and means “to be turned inward.” It referred to teachings reserved for a small number of initiates.
The meaning of this word varies according to the era and the authors, it is often used in popular culture to refer to marginal currents of thought with a strange or secret component: secret societies, occultism, the paranormal...
Indeed, it refers to the practice of para-sciences, that is to say occult sciences which invite introspection: lithotherapy, astrology, cartomancy or even palmistry. These teachings are based on the deciphering and analysis of natural signs such as rituals associated with the lunar cycle, the reading of stones, cards or even astral themes.
